scotoma saguaro (2020) resin, dried flowers, steel, magnification lenses, 40 x 32 x 32 cm scatoma saguaro is a set of two wall mounted vitrines lined with magnification lenses. Fragments of objects taken from my daily surroundings such as face-creams, perfume and vitamin bottles, walnuts, eggs and lychees, were cast in resin and dried flowers. Excerpt by Alina Lupu: "The vitrines induced blind spots, making objects not always visible from every angle. Based on your height, movement and positioning, the vitrines could play like a personal film, a nod to the early beginnings of cinema, projection and magic lanterns, a mental experience of enigmatic images. From a certain angle, putting one’s head in between the vitrines, the outside world flipped upside down." ------------------------- two sets of space attached to a wall whose internal measurements are larger than their shells one could tell by the encased objects1 that kept swelling, kept swirling swaying with the slightest sway spontaneous! sci-fi in the making of elastic images sometimes with outlines made from rainbows 1 Fragments of objects taken from my daily surroundings such as face-creams, perfume and vitamin bottles, walnuts, eggs and lychees, were recast in epoxy and dried flowers. -------------------------- The production of this work was made possible by Mondriaan Fonds as part of Prospects and Concepts at Art Rotterdam 2020, curated by Johan Gustavsson.
